• General introduction to welding technology
• Review of electrotechnics
• The arc
• Power sources for arc welding
• Introduction to gas shielded arc welding
• Manual metal arc (MMA) welding
• Tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding
• Metal inert gas/ Metal active gas (MIG/MAG) welding
• Flux cored arc welding (FCAW)
• Submerged arc welding (SAW)
• Oxy-fuel gas welding and related processes
• Resistance welding
• Other welding processes ( laser, electron beam, plasma, friction)
• Cutting and other edge preparation processes
• Joining processes for plastics
• Joining processes for ceramics and composite
Entry Requirements
International Welding Specialist (IWS)
With pre assessment :
CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector OR
Technical Certificate Level 2 issued by a Medium technical school OR
Non Technical Certificate Level 2 or 3 with four years of job professional experience including job experience defined in the IWS Guideline in welding related activities OR
Secondary school education with at least 5 years of job professional experience including job experience defined in the IWS Guideline in welding related activities and minimum age of 30 years. Applicants must have a basic knowledge of the relevant topics for learning and understanding welding technology. This knowledge must be equivalent to the Level 2 Technical Certificate.
Without pre assessment :
CSWIP 3.2 Senior Welding Inspector OR
Technical Certificate Level 3 (Advanced Certificate in Welding) issued by a Medium or Higher technical school.
