TWI has for many years offered the IIW/EWF Welding Engineering Diploma and many candidates have successfully completed this course. Some potential candidates with the right foundation knowledge and vast experience have however been disappointed by the level of academic qualifications required to join this programme. Due to the industry shortage of qualified welding engineers, TWI is offering the TWI Diploma in Welding Engineering.
Unlike the IIW/EWF Welding Engineering Diploma, the TWI Diploma in Welding Engineering entry requirements are based on the candidates’ experience and knowledge rather than academic qualifications, but the course content and examinations are at the same technical levels.

If you currently have sufficient industrial experience but lack the academic qualifications to enrol in the IIW/EWF Welding Engineering Diploma course, this could be your opportunity to achieve a qualification which will also satisfy the requirements of industry and the standard ISO 14731 ‘Welding Co-ordination – Tasks and Responsibilities, as required by EN ISO 3834 ‘Quality Requirements for Fusion Welding of Metallic Materials.’
The TWI Diploma in Welding Engineering also opens a route for candidates to achieving a university engineering degree.
